What schools had to say about their visiting authors
We enjoyed our author visit immensely in January!
Chris Akkerman School, Calgary
The students enjoyed the presentation; it opened their eyes to local autor and evens in another country in the past.
Hillside Community School, Grande Prairie
Students were really engaged and...the presentation fit right into the curriculum.
Our Lady of Queen of Peace, Airdrie
The Writers in Schools Program is popular
with both writers and schools.
With an author-base that spreads from Grande Prairie and Plamondon south to Calgary and Rosemary, WISP is able to reach students in a large area while keeping operational costs low.
Each year, CAA Alberta Branch members who are published authors are invited to share their love of words with students in elementary, junior and senior high schools throughout the province. WISP is an annual program coordinated by the CAA Alberta Branch that brings writers and storytellers to over 2,000 students in Alberta each year.
Presentations are coordinated between the school and the WISP presenter with the school visit to take place between March and May of the current program season.
